Biography
Ben Comeau is a London-based pianist, composer and organist, active in classical music, jazz and more. He graduated top of his year in music from Cambridge University, whilst holding an organ scholarship at Girton College. He subsequently taught pastiche composition and practical musicianship at Cambridge and Middlesex universities. He studied postgraduate jazz piano at Guildhall, London, and in Cologne. His compositions and arrangements have been heard in venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Wigmore Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall; he has also composed and performed several times for BBC Radio 3. In demand as a solo recitalist on piano and organ, he is particularly known for his innovative and eclectic programming, including five centuries of the classical canon but also improvisations and arrangements of music from Michel Legrand to Astor Piazzolla to Bjork. As an organist he won the 2011 Northern Ireland International Organ Competition. He has performed improvised live soundtracks to various silent films.
